With Diagonalen, Tashi Brauen created an object integrated into the structure of an existing wooden wall in the gallery. In his work, geometric-abstract elements oftenencounter organic, amorphous forms. He explores the relationship between these two visual languages through the inherent qualities of each material. At the same time, he seeks to limit artistic intervention to a minimum.
This work powerfully represents the formal aspects of his practice. Using his own methods, Brauen also engages with the timeless question of how line, surface, and space relate to one another. In Diagonalen, he focuses on perspective, demonstrating how a seemingly static object continuously changes depending on the viewer's standpoint.
